Stinker | Siphon Brewing
ABV: 5.5%
IBU: 30
Style: Smoked Beer
Actively Produced
Description: Brewed for the 1-year anniversary of Siphon Brewing together with Viven and Bryggja of the Belgian town of Damme, 'Stinker' - named for one of the canals running alongside the brewery - is a top fermented beer, brewed very much as a Belgian ale (multi-step mash and bottle conditioned), but using Beechwood Smoked Malt from Weyermann® Malts in Bamberg (35% of the grist bill) to equip it with its subtle smoked bacon aromas and flavours. Munich, Caramunich and Chocolate malts give it body and roundness. A clean fermentation profile and bittering additions only of Hallertau Mittelfrüh let the smoke and malt feature. The cigar on the label references not only the smokiness, but also the celebratory nature of the occasion for which it was brewed.
