Hannah In the Wild | Fieldwork Brewing Company
ABV: 8.6%
Style: Bière de Garde
Actively Produced
Description: Hannah our brewery dog is the most sentient of guard dogs, at 112 years young she shows every day that she can still do her job, slowly pacing around and barking into the ether. With many similar qualities, Hannah's namesake is our Biere de Garde, a malty high octane Belgian-style ale similar to a Saison and meant to age well over time. With this batch of Hannah we decided to test its abilities in the aging department, and let it rest on brettanomyces wild yeast until it began to show the trademark fruity and hay like notes commonly associated with it. Big notes of torched dates, boxed raisins, and cinnamon dusted banana chips hit the palate like a soft sledgehammer. Once the obligatorily big and bold notes of this Biere de Garde dissipate new flavors of freshly baled hay and pineapple tie everything together. Already a cult classic here at Fieldwork, we think the extra nap Hannah took on brett aided in a pleasant yet subtle brett profile that only compliments an already complex and decadent beer. Let's all raise a glass to Hannah, one of the greatest dogs we've had the pleasure to love.
