White Label Extra Stout | Emerson's Brewery
ABV: 7.9%
Style: Stout - Other
Out of Production
Description: The Brew Crew have always admired some of the huge stouts that have come out of the US in those lovely 750ml Champagne bottles. Savouring the rich dark complex, almost oily texture of these beers on a wintry Friday afternoon at the brewery just encouraged us to break the rules again and brew our own interpretation. This beer took months to design and test brew before we were satisfied with a recipe. As usual we chose a day when management were away and we let loose, smuggling the beer into a fermenter in the darkest corner of the brewery so it wouldn’t be spotted! The result is even better than we hoped. It pours beautifully black with a creamy latte head, oily, rich and resiny on the nose. Licorice, coffee, and molasses flavours are to the fore and the finish is amazing, just the right amount of bitterness to balance the beer’s warming 7.8% . Unfortunately the amount available in the white label series is probably never enough to get around all of our outlets and we have had to select carefully where it is served. If you’re reading this then Eureka! You don’t drink this beer – it’s absorbed…… Sláinte! No style guideline, no compromise Cheers The Brew Crew Original gravity: 1087 Alcohol : 7.9 % vol Malts : NZ Ale malt, roasted and caramalts Hops : NZ Styrian Goldings Yeast: English ale
