Description: Batch #4. "Need a Hug" is an Appalachian Wild Ale brewed w/ local barley & local raw wheat, boiled w/ burlap-aged hops. Fermented w/ our mixed house cultured in stainless steel. Transferred into oak for 4-6 months of aging. Transferred out onto a massive amount of local blueberries in June 2018. Fermented & aged on berries for 3-4 months & transferred into red wine barrels. We did this part a little differently this year. Opposed to adding all of the elderberries into the blueberry tank, we did a separate fermentation with only our barrel-aged sour base and the elderberries. This allowed a greater ability to blend to our desired outcome. Each beer matured in the wine barrels for an additional 6 months.
