Driving Mr. Pittman | Cigar City Brewing
ABV: 4.5%
IBU: 14
Style: Grisette
Actively Produced
Description: Since it’s inception in 1997 Decatur, Georgia’s Brick Store Pub has been one of our favorite places in the world to enjoy a beer. Through their focus on draft beer, vintage beer and superlative service they’ve set the standard for beer bars across the world. We’ve partnered with the owners and staff of The Brick Store to brew a special beer for their 20th anniversary, a unique and ancient style of Wallonian-style ale called a grisette. Brewed with wheat and spelt, this farmhouse-style ale boasts the spicy, peppery phenolics of a great saison but tempers the alcohol content and adds a light acidity to make the beer even more refreshing and effervescent. The name “grisette” refers to the grey-clad French women who would serve the ale to help slake their thirst of Wallonian miners, so why wouldn’t it also be appropriate to quench the thirst of Decatur’s favorite wandering persona, Pittman? Cheers to The Brick Store Pub, to Pittman, and to complex and refreshing farmhouse ales!
