Patrons Project 4.02 // Pineapple and Grapefruit Juice IPA // Drew Millward // Northern Tropics | Northern Monk
ABV: 7.4%
IBU: 40
Style: IPA - Fruited
Actively Produced
Description: For the second in our tropics-inspired series with Drew, we took inspiration from a popular soft drink (sounds like tilt...) to create an IPA packed with zesty refreshment. We've dropped the lactose right down from part one of the series aiming for a slightly crisper but still soft and round mouthfeel. Our chosen hops were Comet and Chinook for classic west coast grapefruit zest hop flavour, and a new variety - Denali. Developed by Hopsteiner, it's aroma notes included stone fruit, lemon and primarily, for the purpose of this beer, pineapple, so we were excited to give it a go. Grapefruit juice was added to the boil before we loaded the FV with pureed fruit mid-fermentation. Two dry-hop additions followed and a lengthy conditioning period at 10 Celcius to let the hops do their thing and to allow the fruit flavours to round out through the beer. Hopefully this beer delivers exactly as promised on the tin. Big aromas of grapefruit and prominent up front zest, the juicyness of the pineapple rides underneath with the classic long hop bitterness cutting through at the end. We'd like to think this is the perfect beer for the beginning of a long tropical British summer!
